# CleanDividends > Canadian dividend and income ETFs, reported on what was actually paid rather than > on a yield estimate. Every distribution since each fund launched, what each one was > made of for tax, what it really cost, and what a position in it actually returned. Data as at 2026-08-10. 22 funds covered in full; 107 more are catalogued and explicitly not covered, each with a stated reason. ## What is here that is hard to find elsewhere - **Tax character per fund, per year.** Every distribution split into eligible dividends, capital gains, foreign income and return of capital, as published by the issuer. 10 funds have a published year on file. - **Return of capital as a share of the distribution.** Often most of it — one fund's last published year was 100% return of capital. This is the figure that makes a headline yield misleading and it is rarely reported. - **Effective fees for funds of funds.** A fund holding other funds publishes its own management fee, which is not what a holder pays. The combined figure is computed here. - **Every change to every distribution rate**, with the date, so a "reliable" monthly payer that has trimmed its rate twenty times is visible as such. - **Look-through holdings.** Two covered-call funds on Canadian banks are mostly the same five banks twice; resolved to the underlying companies. - **Bank of Canada policy and prime rate history** as change points, back to 2009-04-21 and 1990-01-03 respectively. ## Core pages - [All funds](https://cleandividends.com/funds/): the screener, 22 funds with price, yield, fee, risk and tax character - [The lists](https://cleandividends.com/lists/): why 22 are covered, 57 are not yet, and 50 are excluded - [Compare any two](https://cleandividends.com/compare/): 231 pairings, each on the same start month - [Holdings, looked through](https://cleandividends.com/holdings/): by underlying company - [Payment calendar](https://cleandividends.com/calendar/): ex-dates and pay dates - [Issuers](https://cleandividends.com/issuers/): who runs these funds - [FAQ](https://cleandividends.com/faq/): questions about dividends, answered from this data - [Glossary](https://cleandividends.com/learn/glossary/): 25 terms, each with the part people get wrong ## Per fund Every fund has pages at these paths, where is the lowercased ticker: - /funds// — overview, total return vs price return, what $1,000 became - /funds//distributions/ — every payment, every rate change, missed months - /funds//holdings/ — what it owns - /funds//tax/ — the distribution's tax character and what it costs by province - /funds//calculator/ — income for a given position, run against real history - /funds//alternatives/ — what is closest, and what actually diversifies Covered funds: AMAX, CDAY, EMAX, HBF, HCAL, HDIF, HDIV, HHL, HIND, HLIF, HMAX, HTA, HUBL, HUTL, HYLD, LMAX, QDAY, QMAX, RMAX, SDAY, SMAX, UMAX ## Reference data - [Prime and policy rates](https://cleandividends.com/rates/): Bank of Canada, latest 2026-08-07. They do not shelter the same things, and one of them switches off the main tax advantage these funds have. - [Should I take a loan to max out my TFSA](https://cleandividends.com/learn/should-i-borrow-to-max-out-my-tfsa/): The interest is not deductible, and that one rule moves the break-even further than any fund you could pick. What has to be true for it to work, and the four ways it goes wrong. - [Monthly or quarterly dividends](https://cleandividends.com/learn/monthly-vs-quarterly-dividends/): Monthly feels better and compounds slightly faster. Neither is the reason to pick a fund, and the schedule hides a cash-flow trap. - [Getting the most out of dividend investing](https://cleandividends.com/learn/dividend-investing-guide/): What decides whether an income portfolio grows or quietly shrinks: realistic yields, protecting capital, living off the income, and the mistakes that cost people money. ## How to read figures from this site - A figure is sourced or it reads N/A. Nothing is estimated to fill a gap. - Yields are trailing: the last twelve months of payments actually made, over the current price. They are not forecasts and monthly distributions change. - Management fees are already inside a published yield — distributions are paid out of fund assets after the fee is charged. Subtracting it again double-counts. - Return of capital is not tax-free income. It is deferred: it lowers the holder's adjusted cost base and returns as a capital gain on sale. - Tax characteristics are the last published year and are not a promise about this one. ## Terms of use Not investment advice, and not from a registered adviser or dealer.
